Information for DTSB's (under 18) and Adult Waivers (over 18)

REQUIREMENTS:
Students will drive 7 driving sessions (50 mins) and observe 7 driving sessions (50 mins).  In order to take behind the wheel, if you are under the age of 18, you must complete a 36 hour state-approved driver education program and possess your Virginia Learner's Permit.  In addition, students must have 45 hours of supervised driving with a parent/guardian, of which 15 hours must be after sunset.  Upon registering for behind the wheel, students will need to provide the following: 
*A valid Virginia Learner's Permit
*A certificate of driver education course completion (Orange Card)
*Payment, in the form of cash or check, is expected on the first day of behind the wheel.
*Students will complete a final road test at the end of the course.  Any student who fails the test can retake for an additional $50.00

DMV PERMIT:
*Students can take the permit test at any local DMV.  When a student reaches the age of 15 and 6 months, he or she will legally be able to take the permit test.  Keep in mind, if a student fails the permit test 3 times, he or she will not be allowed to test again until the completion of state approved  classroom section. 

License Process: 
*All students must hold their permit for 9 months regardless of the date they complete the driving test.  No student can legally drive  by themselves until the full 9 months are fulfilled.  You can however complete driving behind the wheel with an instructor and final test.  Once a student can legally drive by themselves they will receive a phone call from the court system within 6 months of issue date of TDL.

Adult Waivers:
*We offer adult waivers for drivers over 18 years of age.  7 sessions are required for an adult waiver.  Drivers that complete Not Your Mothers' Driving School requirements will be given an adult waiver to take to DMV which will allow the driver to bypass testing at DMV.
